Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—used the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the group reach areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.
